ReStage pitch deck
Brand implementation
ReStage, a circular economy theatre set start-up, needed to create a pitch deck to attract supporting partners. With only had a visual identity with a handful of high-level visuals, their brand was implemented for the first time in this pivotal document. The deck also needed a set of icons and a hero graphic that demonstrated the brand's ethos and mission. With a limited budget of 14 hours, it was important to know what to prioritise.
For their hero graphic, the project leader was keen to use the "S" of the logo on its side as an infinity symbol, and sent a sketch of their idea. I explained how it would detract from the the brand and overall visual consistency, and clarified that the S shape was designed to work for the logo and not as a standalone graphic, whilst agreeing that the infinity loop was a great idea that would work in its own right. To assure the client of this, I included their suggestion in the creative journey, whilst validating the idea in the final outcome.
To make it stand-out further from the rest of the presentation, I reversed the colours and used red on a pink backround instead of pink on a red background.
They also had a complex process diagram, which required a whole set of icons. In collaboration, we reviewed the process and simplified the diagram, reducing the number of icons required and making it easier to interpret.
In any given project, it's important to prioritise. For quick turnaround projects like this, I familiarise myself with the brand from the simplest pieces of content, and as my confidence builds up, complex elements become easier to visualise. Here, I knew the slide with the icons would take the longest, so I left it to last knowing I could adjust how long I spent on these. Even though there was some compromise, the overall presentation is well accomplished and has already been effective, with two potential partners showing interest.
All the client originally asked for was a stand-out hero graphic, "and everything else can be just okay."However, as it was their pitch deck, "okay" didn't sit right with me, and I went beyond their expectations, within the budget constraints.
They didn't expect this level of quality given the very limited budget they had and were emboldened in their mission.
